In short
Pack one room at a time, using smaller boxes for heavy items and larger boxes for light ones. Fill the gaps, seal well and write the destination room on two sides.
Supplies
- Sturdy boxes in several sizes (Easy Move can provide them).
- Strong packing tape, packing paper, markers.
- Blankets or covers for furniture and mattresses.
Rules that prevent breakage
- Heavy in small boxes (books, dishes), light in large ones (bedding, cushions).
- A box should not shift when you shake it: fill the gaps with paper or cloths.
- Wrap plates one by one and stand them on their edge; fill glasses with paper and wrap them.
- Don't overload: one person should be able to lift a box without excessive effort.
Label to unpack quickly
Write the destination room and a summary of the contents on the top and on one side. Number the boxes and keep a list: you'll know right away if something is missing.
If you hand off the packing
Ask what the service includes, which materials are provided, and how liability applies to boxes packed by the crew or by you. These terms should be set out in writing in your agreement.
