By Easy Move
In short
Name a person in charge, take inventory of the premises and equipment, check the rules of both buildings (loading dock, elevator, hours) and plan the IT separately. The more precise the inventory, the more precise the estimate.
A person in charge and a timeline
Name one person who makes decisions and communicates with the moving company, the building and the employees. Set the date with the quieter periods of your business in mind.
The inventory
- Workstations, chairs, filing cabinets, meeting tables, kitchenette appliances.
- Heavy or delicate equipment: printers, servers, safes, artwork.
- What isn't moving: sell, donate or recycle it before the date.
The two buildings
- Loading dock, freight elevator, permitted hours, required protection for walls and floors.
- Certificate of insurance requested by building management: find out early.
IT and labelling
Have your team or your IT provider unplug and back up the computer equipment. Label each workstation with a number that matches the plan of the new premises: setting up on arrival is much faster.
General preparation guide; it does not replace your municipality's rules or the terms of your contract.
